Chili...perfect for cold winter nights. Also perfect when you want to add a little kick to your dinner. I personally love chili. I never cared for the beans. Until recently, we would always pick the beans out but that was too much work so now we eat them...and like them!

Both my Grandma and Mother In Law make chili for us. I tried to make it one time and the result was awful, well maybe not that bad because we ate it but it wasn't good. I used a seasoning packet and there was just too much seasoning. I vowed that I would figure out how to make chili and I am happy to announce that tonight I figured it out!

I did not use a seasoning packet this time. Instead, I used Bush's Chili Beans that were in a mild chili sauce. Although the recipe did not call for tomato sauce I added it. The result was amazing. The chili was great. Just enough kick and spice. My husband adds elbow macaroni noodles to his chili which you can do as well, if you prefer.

Cook   : 45 Minutes
Preheat Oven   : 


Ingredients
1 lb.    ground beef
1 large    chopped onion
1 large    chopped green pepper
1 tsp.    minced garlic
1 can    Bush's chili beans, undrained
1 cup    water
1 1/2 tsp.    chili powder
3 Tbsp.    ketchup
1 (16 oz can)    tomato sauce
1 1/2 tsp.    salt
1/4 tsp.    black pepper
1/4 tsp.    cayenne pepper


Preparation
1.
Chop onion and green pepper into medium sized pieces.
 
2.
Brown ground beef with onions, green peppers, garlic, salt and pepper.
 
3.
Drain ground beef and add beans, tomato sauce, water, ketchup, chili powder and cayenne pepper.
 
4.
Simmer for 45 minutes. Top with cheese, if desired.
